Here's a simple recipe for a moist and delicious chocolate cake
Ingredients
For the cake
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup whole milk, at room temperature

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 ounces high-quality dark or semisweet chocolate, melted
Instructions
Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease two 9-inch (23cm) round cake pans and line the bottoms with parchment paper.
Mix the dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Mix the wet ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cocoa powder and butter. Beat on medium speed until well combined. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
Combine the wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Beat just until combined.
Divide the batter: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
Bake the cakes: Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Make the frosting: Beat the butter until creamy, then gradually add the confectioners' sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and creamy. Add the melted chocolate and beat until well combined.
Assemble the cake: Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate and spread a thick layer of frosting on top. Place the second layer on top and frost the entire cake with the remaining frosting.
